FarmWELL started in 2012, initially under the name of FarmFLOW, and focused on the area immediately near Poona Dam and the Intake Weir. Since then, the area has gradually increased across the water supply catchment with more eligible landholders participating in the program. The program is funded by Seqwater and participation by landholders is voluntary.
Who is eligible? If your rural property is larger than 2.5 hectares, in the current funding area ( above Wappa Dam, refer map page) of the Upper South Maroochy and has grazing or horticultural activities, you may be eligible for incentives. This includes areas such as Kiamba, Image Flat, parts of Kureelpa Falls, Dulong, Cooloolabin and Highworth. Projects need to demonstrate improved management and/or the condition of your land together with contributing to improved health of the waterways. If approved, you will manage the project and will be required to sign a contract with Maroochy Landcare Group to carry out the project.
Projects are generally funded on 50:50 basis with landholders being able to contribute as cash or as in-kind. In-kind can be your own labour, machinery or existing infrastructure relevant to the program.Landholders who have completed previous projects can reapply for a new project. Note that limits and conditions apply. Not all eligible landholders may receive funding in the current phase.
